HOUNDS FOR HEROES

We are delighted to announce that Hounds for Heroes is Viking Cruises UK’s charity for 2016. This wonderful organisation provides specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled men and women of both the UK Armed Forces and Emergency Services. The aim is that the dogs provide help and practical support to enhance the quality of life of their owners, and while giving love and companionship.

The charity’s Puppies on Parade appeal, which paid for the training of five Labradors and their subsequent costs throughout their lives, was so successful that Hounds for Heroes has started a fourth appeal to purchase its latest squadron of canine cadets. Dogs are carefully selected for all qualities needed to produce excellent assistance dogs. Once they are trained they provide valuable help to their owners by opening doors, picking up items and even getting money from ATMs.

We met Founder and Vice-Chairman Allen Parton and his two service dogs, EJ and Rookie at the Viking office, pictured here.
