The World's Leading River Cruise Line, Viking River Cruises is delighted announce a charity partnership with Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading charity dedicated to cancer research.
The charity was voted for by Viking River Cruise customers in spring 2011.
Wendy Atkin-Smith, Managing Director Viking River Cruises UK Limited explains: “Cancer Research UK does tremendous work and I am proud that Viking River Cruises will be working with them throughout 2011. It was amazing to see just how many of our customers felt passionate about this important cause and we look forward to sharing with them all the exciting fundraising activities that we have planned”.
Wendy continues “Viking River Cruises has a personal link to this charity with our founder, Torstein Hagen beating prostate cancer, so we are all very keen to get behind this charity and help make a real difference to lives affected by cancer across Britain”
To kick the fundraising effort off, this Friday, 29th August 2011, Viking will donate £10 for every booking made on the day directly to Cancer Research UK. Viking’s UK staff will also raise extra donations through a charity fun Friday, including a fancy dress competition.
Staff from Viking River Cruise will also be taking part in Cancer Research UK’s own events starting with Shine London 2011 over night walk on Saturday 1st October 2011.
