Vidar - Norse God of Loyalty

Loyal to a fault, the Norse god Vidar avenges his father Odin’s death. A collector of shoe leather discarded by mortals, he adds each of the leather shards to his own sole.

After the wolf Fenrir devours Odin, the loyal Vidar hunts down Fenrir to avenge his father’s death. He secures its lower jaw against the ground with his heavy shoe, pulling on the upper jaw to kill him. This heroic deed has long associated Vidar with loyalty and vengeance.
